Goodbye Morganton

Hey Everyone,

This week was so incredible! Roger, our deaf friend, asked us to show him around the church building after our Book of Mormon class on Wednesday and when we showed him the baptismal font he nodded his head in approval and then suddenly asked us which one of us will baptize him! He said that he is excited to join the church in about a month or so! He is such an amazing guy and I am so excited for him!

As you can tell by the title of the email though, transfers are this week and I found out that I am being moved down to South Carolina to a town called Fort Mill. I’m sad that I will be leaving the beautiful mountains of Morganton and all of the great people here, but I also cant wait for the adventure ahead! When we got the call that I will be leaving, I thought “already?” but then I remembered that I’ve been here for about 9 months, when the maximum a missionary usually gets in an area is about 6 months. I still can’t believe that it has been that long! Time flies when you’re working hard!

We had a great zone conference this week in which our Mission President reminded us that Pride is of the Devil. He said that often we are one of two extremes of Pride. Either we are the over confident and proud person that knows they are the best; or we are the overly tired and very self-pity focused. I have never thought the latter to be a type of pride, but our Mission President explained that the commonality between the two is a focus on “me” or “I” when we should be forgetting ourselves and focusing on Christ. He challenged us to do something that I am going to ask y’all to do. Tonight I want you to sit down and do a self-evaluation of your own pride. Be honest with yourself. Then, after your evaluation set goals and make plans to cast that pride aside! If you like, ask someone to help you. Often times others see things in us that we cant see in ourselves.

I love you all and can’t wait for the week ahead and what it holds in store!

Until next week,
Elder Klingler
