More ASL

Hey Everyone!

This week went really well! We worked really hard this week and we were able to see so many miracles!

We took Brother Simmons from our ward to go meet James and it turns out that they already knew each other! As a result, they are now best friends and James was really excited to come to church on Sunday!

Before I got here, I hadn’t done ASL in about two years, so I had some trials remembering everything. But now my companion and I take some time each day to practice and it’s really helped me to remember a lot of what I was taught in school and we both are learning a lot. ASL is like a whole separate language once you start to talk about Gospel things, because it’s a whole set of vocabulary that you really don’t learn outside of the church. Luckily we have a member of our ward that does a lot of the interpreting during church and so she has been giving us “homework” each week of Gospel vocabulary signs that she quizzes us on the next week. It’s helping a ton!

On Saturday we met up with the Lenoir Elders and did a FamilySearch.org booth at the local Fleet Market, but it wasn’t as successful as we had hoped. It was still a lot of fun though and we had a good time checking out the rest of the market.

Also, we’ve been experiencing a lot of rain for this time of the year, but it seems to break right at sunset, which makes for some awesome sunset photos.

Yesterday in Church we heard a fantastic talk about the blessings that come when we follow the commandments and how their worth far exceeds the sacrifices we may have to make on our end. I know personally how true that is, and I am so grateful for the opportunities I have to follow and receive those blessings; and especially for the opportunities I get to help others do the same.

Until next week,
Elder Klingler
