May The 4th Be With You
Hey Everyone!
This week has been full of festivities since it was May the 4th (national Star Wars Day) so we had dinner with a family that is super into Star Wars and they had a full spread of Star Wars pun-filled foods. It was great.
On Cinco De Mayo a bunch of Hispanic families in our ward and people who served in Hispanic countries all got together for a big dinner and they invited us too. I have never had better Hispanic food in my whole life.
We have a referral who we have been trying to get in contact with for a while now, but she keeps on pushing back our appointments. We have some of the most missionary-minded members here though and they have just leaped at the opportunities to come to lessons with us. It’s amazing.
Our recent convert Sally was in the hospital for a few days this week as well so we made a few trips down on our bikes to visit her and help her out in any way we could.
We also continue to go to basketball at the church every Tuesday and Thursday evening because a ton of non-members come and it’s been a really good opportunity to get to know the guys better. Hopefully we will get to start teaching some of them soon.
This week I was reading in 1 Corinthians 13 and the very first verse says “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal” which basically means that we can speak with great understanding and language (tongues of men) and with powerful testimony of truth (tongues of Angels) but if we don’t love, then non of it matters. If we don’t also love those we are teaching then our words are nothing other than the sound of a tinkling cymbal. Looking back in your own life, the teachers you consider to be the best teachers were the ones that cared and showed love for you; and the same applies to our everyday lives.
I love all of you and hope you all have an incredible week!
