Time Travel?!

Honestly I know I said this last week, but time is going by so incredibly fast! It seems like I just sent last week’s email and here we are again haha.

Today I want to focus on an experience I had when we knocked on a door and met a man named Walter. Walter lives alone and just moved back from up north to be closer to his family. The whole time we are talking with Walter his dog, Blue, was barking up a storm from his kennel which was in the other room. We continued to teach over the noise and at times he would get quieter but those moments were few and far between. The entire lesson Walter was being very receptive to what we were saying and was being really open with us. At the end of the lesson though, we said we would like to pray with him and we asked him to give the prayer, but he was nervous so he said he would pray if my companion and I each prayed first. So we went around and each gave a prayer. The spirit was really strong in the room and the prayer Walter gave was really nice and heart-felt. Afterward he looked at us with a huge smile on his face and said “I will give you one chance to answer this question, and if you’re right then I will let y’all come back and teach me more.” I was really happy too because the spirit was so strong and the silence was amazing. He leans in and says “How can you tell that the spirit is here right now?” and immediately a huge smile broke out across my face because I knew that he was feeling the same thing I felt. Without hesitation I answered his question, “well the dog stopped barking” and immediately he reached out and gave me the most solid high-five of my life. He went on to say how that dog always barks without end and especially when he has company over, even if it’s family. To him that was sign enough that what he was doing was right and he was so excited that he even said he was going to call his grandma right away and tell her because she’s the one that bought him the dog haha. It was an incredible experience. The dog remained silent even until we left and who knows how long after.

This week has been filled with experiences like that and I am learning so much while I’m out here especially from my awesome companion Elder Ward.

I hope you all take time this week to sincerely pray; and pay close attention to HOW God answers your prayer and less on the answer he gives you, as the two are often closely related. I promise you all that God listens to and answers every prayer.
